Message Well it's time for my once annual post! I spent some quality time with the Z this weekend and replaced a mess o' mouldings. All the roof trim and a set of the great looking KurumaZ side mouldings. While I was in the zone, I replaced the antenna mast that hasn't retracted fully without multiple punches of the power button, and lots of moaning, in years.

Thanks go out to Coz for the mast and side mouldings, and Courtesy for the roof trim. Robo's write-up was spot-on for the sides and I used my91z's Auto-FAQ for the roof. Thanks guys! A couple of observations before the pics.

The sides were ridiculously easy to do! The quarter window trim was so effortless I don't understand why Nissan doesn't offer these pieces individually! Robo must be a barbarian with freakish strength (or I'm a girly-man) because I couldn't just simply push on the door pieces. I used a rubber mallet and a folded rag to tap them into place. (I did this with the interior door panel on.) It's okay to position them to hang a bit past the edge of the door, you can use the mallet to tap it forward to meet the door edge.

The roof gave me the biggest pain in the nether regions. It took several tries to get the windshield pieces to sit properly and the T-tops were the most emotionally traumatizing. They came apart fine, but I spent some time with drill in hand before I could commit to putting holes where there weren't any before! my91z suggested a 1/4 inch drill bit, but the screws holding the pieces on were flanged and the holes weren't large enough to remove the screws completely. I ended up leaving the panel upside down on a table and unscrewing the screws until the trim was free, leaving the screws in place in their little homes. I synced the trim with the screws from underneath and tightened them down. Worked like a charm. It took about 45 minutes to figure out the first one and 15 minutes for the second. Now that you've gone through all of this, here's the pics.

Nasty old door piece...

Here's the new rear with the old door moulding, what a difference!

Comparison of old quarter and new

And the new, fully retracted, mast with the new rubber nut that I managed not to mangle in the installation.
